The TJX Companies Inc. announced on Thursday, January 18, that some customer information has been compromised due to an unauthorized intrusion into its computer systems, involving credit card, debit card, check, and merchandise return transactions. The intrusion affects customers of T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods and A.J. Wright stores in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, and Winners and HomeSense stores in Canada, and may involve customers of Bob's stores in the U.S. and T.K. Maxx stores in the U.K. and Ireland. Financial institutions and card issuers throughout the U.S. have been notified and are monitoring the situation for their cardholders.

First Community Credit Union has been working diligently with our credit and debit card vendors to identify and alleviate any impact on our members. At this time, it appears that a relatively small number of FCCU credit and debit card numbers were compromised. Please be assured that although names, account numbers, expiration dates and verification codes may have been compromised in the breach, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, and other information used by perpetrators of identity fraud are not stored on credit cards and were NOT compromised.

As a member of FCCU, you are covered under our "zero liability policy" for fraudulent charges on your credit and debit cards. FCCU uses state of the art fraud monitoning systems to monitor both credit and debit card activity. If we get any indications of fraudulent activity the card is immediately shutdown. If you would like to have your card closed and a new card issued please contact the credit union. However, to help alleviate or minimize any inconvenience to you, please continue monitoring your checking and credit card accounts closely, and report any suspicious activity to FCCU immediately by calling (608) 362-9077 or (800) 828-5923.

As always, we take your personal identity and account security very seriously. We will continue working to help alleviate as much of the impact on our members as possible. You can also help by always keeping your address and phone number with FCCU current.  This will allow us to contact you immediately if suspicious activity is identified on your account.

If you have questions, you can call TJX's special helpline toll-free at 866-484-6978 in the United States, 866-903-1408 in Canada, and 0800 77 90 15 in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Information is also available at www.tjx.com.
